COVID-19 claims one life in Pindi, 198 cases from twin cities

Rawalpindi:In the last 24 hours, another patient suffering from coronavirus illness, COVID-19 died of the illness from Rawalpindi district taking tally to 1,007 though the virus did not claim any life from Islamabad Capital Territory in the last five days from where a total of 787 patients had already lost their lives due to COVID-19.

Data collected by ‘The News’ on Tuesday reveals that a total of 198 new patients were reported from the twin cities in the last 24 hours taking tally to 110,707 while death of another patient took death toll from the region to 1,794.

It is, however, alarming that the average positivity rate of COVID-19 from the region is being recorded well over five per cent for the last two weeks. The number of active cases from both the federal capital and Rawalpindi district has been on a continuous rise for the last three weeks. On Tuesday, there were a total 2,797 active cases of COVID-19 belonging to the twin cities while on June 30, the number of active cases from the region was around 1,000.

In the last 24 hours, as many as 120 new patients have been reported from ICT and 78 from Rawalpindi district. Confirmation of 78 more patients positive for COVID-19 from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours has taken tally to 25865 of which 24,182 patients have recovered.

On Tuesday, the number of active cases from the district was recorded as 676 of which 49 patients were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities in the district while 627 were in home isolation.

From the federal capital, the total number of confirmed patients so far reported has reached 84,842 of which 81,934 patients have recovered. The number of active cases from ICT was recorded as 2,121 on Tuesday after addition of 64 active cases to the existing pool in the last 24 hours.
