Golra police arrest 6 female drug peddlers

Islamabad-Golra police intensified operation against drug mafia on Thursday while arresting six female drug peddlers and seizing narcotics from their possession.

A police spokesperson on Thursday informed that an operation against drug peddlers was launched by Golra police in slum areas in which six women drug peddlers were arrested and cache of narcotics was recovered from their possession. 

Separate cases were registered against the accused in Golra Police Station, he added.

He said that the accused were playing havoc with lives of youngsters and children by making them drug users. 

On the instructions of IG Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas, a special campaign is already in progress to make Islamabad a drug-free city and strict action is being ensured against those involved in drug pushing activities or using drugs. “We are committed to eliminate the drug menace from the city and no one would be allowed to ruin the future of our young generation,” he added.

22 suspects held

As many as 22 suspects were taken into custody by the capital police during a massive search and combing operation conducted in limits of police station Noon.

According to details, a search operation was conducted in and around Jhangi Syedan on the direction of IG Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas, in which more than 90 officials participated under the supervision of SP Industrial Area Saud Khan.  

During the search operation, 22 suspects were shifted to police station for verification while weapons were also recovered. Two drug peddlers were also arrested during the search operation and 2410 grams hashish was recovered from their possession. 

Cases were registered against the suspects. 

During the search operation, 200 houses and 200 persons were searched.

IG Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas said that the purpose of the search operation was to tighten the noose around the criminals. Search operations are being carried out against criminal elements in different areas of the city.

2 land grabbers arrested

In yet another development, police have arrested two land grabbers during its operation against those involved in occupying lands by harassing people and recovered weapons and ammunition from them.

According to police spokesperson, Islamabad police have launched effective crackdown against land grabbers following directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas. 

Noon police has arrested a notorious land grabber namely Imran alias Mani during search operation in Jhangi Syedan and recovered 2200 gram hashish besides a weapon from his possession. 

The accused has previous criminal record and was involved in murder, attempted murder, land grabbing and other heinous crimes. He was also involved in drug supplying. A case has been registered against him in noon police station and further investigation is underway. 

On the other hand, Koral police has arrested a notorious land grabber namely Raja Aftab involved in land grabbing. He was also wanted to police in a murder case registered in 2021. 

Shalimar police have also arrested two accused involved in a murder case and put them behind the lockup. The accused have been identified as Hammad and his wife.

According to details, accused Hammad exchanged harsh words with his maternal-uncle Nawazish Ali on December 29, 2021 in jurisdiction of Shalimar police station. 

The verbal clash turned violent after Hammad gunned down his uncle and escaped the scene.

On directions of SP Saddar Tasawar Iqbal, SHO Shalimar police station Tipu Sultan with the police team carried out an investigation using latest technology and arrested Hammad along with his wife besides recovering a 30-bore pistol and ammunition from his possession. Further investigation is underway. 

The Islamabad Police chief Ahsan Younas has lauded the performance of the police team which participated in the operation.
