Jeremy Irons to conduct jury during Berlin film festival 2020

BERLIN: British actor Jeremy Irons, who won an Oscar in 1991 for “Reversal of Fortune”, will conduct a jury during a 70th anniversary of a Berlin film festival this year, organisers suggested on Thursday.

Carlo Chatrian, Berlinale artistic director,   said: “Jeremy Irons, with his particular style,  has embodied some iconic characters that have accompanied me via my tour in cinema, creation me wakeful of a complexity of tellurian beings. His talent and a choices he has taken both as an artist and as a citizen make me feel unapproachable to acquire him as boss of a jury for a 70th book of a Berlinale.”

Expressing his  pleasure to take a chair of a event, Irons said: “It is with feelings of good pleasure and not unsubstantial respect that we take on a purpose of boss of a International Jury for a Berlinale 2020.

Irons, who has been  active in film given a 1980s, won both a Best Actor Academy Award and a Golden Globe in 1991 for his purpose in “Reversal of Fortune” by Barbet Schroeder.

Over a decades he has seemed in dozens of productions opposite all kinds of films, trimming from blockbusters like “Die Hard: With A Vengeance” to a argumentative film adaption of Vladimir Nabokov´s novel “Lolita”.

His many new film during a Berlinale was “Night Train to Lisbon” by Bille Aug in 2013, while he is now on US tiny screens in HBO´s comic book-based array “Watchmen”.

This year´s book of a film festival runs from Feb 20 to Mar 1.
