ISLAMABAD – Inspector Abdul Sattar, the investigating officer (IO) in Noor Mukaddam murder case, told the court during cross-examination on Monday that police have no eyewitness against the suspected killer Zahir Zakir Jaffar other than the forensic report and evidence.

“Even the finger prints of Zahir were not found on the blunt kitchen knife, allegedly used in beheading Noor in a room of house of Jaffars in F-7/4,” he added.

The counsel for the suspected killer Zahir Zakir Jaffar cross-examined the investigation officer Inspector Abdul Sattar in the court of Additional   Sessions Judge (ASJ) Atta Rabbani who assumed hearing in this high profile murder case.

The investigating officer further told court that the police seized the kitchen knife from the shelve of a cupboard at crime scene. He added Zahir confessed before police in the police station that he had beheaded Noor with this sharp knife. “There were no blood stains on pant wore by the suspected killer at the time of arrest, but his shirt had blood-stains and it was also proved in a forensic report,” he said.

He added that police reached at crime scene very late and the accused party could have destroyed the evidences while taking advantage of the delay.

Inspector Abdul Sattar further added that police also had not found finger prints of Zahir on a pistol, he allegedly used in firing on employee of Therapy Works.

He said police had inserted section 201 of PPC in the FIR against accused for hiding evidences.

“Police even could not find the clothes worn by Noor Mukaddam at the time of her murder neither her hand bag was seized so far,” he said adding that the investigators had also not described about the clothes and hand bag in any report. He said ASI Zubair Mazhar, Constable Muhammad Sikandar Hayyat, Abid Latif, Head Constable Aitzaz, SHO Police Station Women and Lady Constable Aqsa Rani reached at the crime scene. He admitted that he wrongly mentioned that ASI Zubair Mazhar reached at crime scene along with him. He said Shaukat Ali Mukaddam, the father of Noor Mukaddam, along with his relatives were already present at crime scene.

On the occasion, the public prosecutor Hassan Abbas prayed to court that he would discuss the points of forensic report during his final comments.

During the hearing, the prime suspect Zahir Zakir Jaffar was produced by the police before court, but this time, he himself walked to courtroom. The suspected killer sat down on floor of courtroom while bending his head into knees. After cross examination of IO, ASJ Atta Rabbani deferred hearing in the murder case till January 26, 2022.
