NEW DELHI: Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit has again rejected India’s surgical strikes claims, saying that if there was any surgical strike, Pakistan would have responded proportionately.

In an interview with India Today, Abdul Basit said it was a cross border firing and not a surgical strike, adding that India violated ceasefire at the Line of Control.

Abdul Basit said that Pakistan is striving to have good ties with India.

Pakistan envoy said, SAARC was not cancelled but postponed. He added that Pakistan will host 19th SAARC summit in next year.

“Pakistan wants peace with every country,” he said.

“Our investigation on Pathankot is progressing even though India Pakistan relations are deteriorating,” he said on being asked about Pakistan’s investigation into the Pathankot attack, the Indian media reported.

Basit stated that India did not lose a moment to blame Pakistan for Uri attack.
