Police arrest 8 criminals; recover snatched cash, valuables
ISLAMABAD – Police arrested eight criminals including a wanted member of former jail bird gang and recovered snatched cash, mobile phone, motorbikes, narcotic and weapons along with ammunition, informed a police spokesman on Saturday.
According to him, SSP (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanweer has directed all zonal officers to accelerate their efforts to curb crime in the city. Following these directions SP (Saddar Zone) Capt (R) Hamza Hamayun constituted special police team under the supervision of DSP Saddar Sajjad Bukhari including SHO Tarnol Rasheed Ahmed along with other officials. Police team arrested a wanted member of former jail bird gang identified as Noor Din and recovered snatched cash, mobile phone, motorbike and weapons along with ammunition from him. Cases have been registered against him and further investigation is underway.
Furthermore, under the supervision of DSP Saddar Circle SHO Golra Asim Ghaffar along with others arrested two members of bike lifter gang identified as Faizan and Ramzan and recovered stolen motorbike from their possession.
Meanwhile, Sihala police arrested a drug peddler namely Zaheer Abbas and recovered 300 gram hashish, 500 gram heroin and 450 gram opium from him. Khanna police arrested an accused Umair and recovered one 30 bore pistol from him.
Ramna police arrested accused Khalid and recovered one 30 bore pistol from him. Kohsar police arrested accused Idrees Abbasi and recovered one 30 bore pistol from him. Cases have been registered against the nabbed persons and further investigation is underway from them.
SSP (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanweer appreciated police performance and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for those team members who arrested the culprit.
On the other hand, SSP Operations Islamabad Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer said that Islamabad police accelerated its efforts against criminals and arrested 419 outlaws during last week with huge recovery of looted items worth 24.80 million.
He said that following directions of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman and Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Afzaal Ahmad Kausar, renewed efforts were made and police achieved remarkable success.
SSP (Operations) told that 40 culprits were arrested involved in dacoity, robbery, car/motorcycle theft while 20 absconders were held during the same period. Complete challans of 220 cases were sent to concerned apex courts, he added.
Syed Mustafa Tanweer further said that ICT Police had launched a special campaign against drug sellers/bootleggers for elimination of this menace from capital.
During this campaign Islamabad Police have nabbed 45 accused and recovered 38.395 kilogram hashish, 8.400 kilogram heroin, 415 gram opium, 70 gram ice and 35 wine bottles from them. Twenty six accused were also held for having illegal weapons and recovered 22 pistols, 88 rounds and four daggers from them, the SSP maintained.
The SSP emphasised that, besides the law and order situation in the capital, police accelerated their efforts against criminals and 288 accused involved in crimes of different nature were also arrested.
Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanweer reiterated that criminal elements would not be spared and those involved in such acts would have to face action as per law. He has also appealed to the citizens to cooperate with Islamabad in curbing activities of such elements.
