Police have accelerated campaign against drug peddling: SSP Operations  

ISLAMABAD – Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanweer has said that Islamabad Police have accelerated campaign against the menace of drugs and are determined to eliminate this ugly business from the capital.

He said as per the vision of the Prime Minister and in compliance with the orders of IGP Islamabad Qazi Jamil Ur Rehman, a massive anti-drug campaign is already in progress in the city adding that under the supervision of Additional SP Islamabad Farhat Abbas Kazmi, Islamabad police have arrested 150 drug peddlers during the last month after registering 149 cases. The police also recovered huge cache of drugs including 98,615 grams of hashish, 13,445 grams of heroin, 110 gram of Ice and 4,323 bottles of wine.

SSP (Operations) maintained that Islamabad police was committed to curb this social evil from the city. “We are also trying to cut the demand to thrash the supply chain which is possible with the help of citizens only,” Syed Mustafa maintained.

He also appealed to the citizens to join hands with police for this noble cause. He requested the public to come forward and inform police about any suspicious activity around them. “Together we can,” he added.

Meanwhile, police have arrested five outlaws and recovered stolen motorbike and weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said

Following directions of SSP (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanweer, crackdown against criminals continues.

Following these directions, Bhara Kahu police arrested accused Sajjad and recovered a 30-bore pistol from him. Karachi Company police arrested accused Muhammad Naeem having gas cylinder. 

 Banigala police arrested accused Zeeshan. CIA police arrested accused Waqar Ali and recovered stolen motorbike from him. Shams colony police arrested accused Abdul Rehman and recovered pistol along with ammunition from him.

Cases have been registered against the nabbed persons and further investigation is underway from them.

DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmad Kausar and SSP (Operations) Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer have appreciated police performance. 

SSP (Operations) further directed all zonal officers to tighten the security in their respective areas to curb crime. Safety and security of the citizens is our responsibility and no laxity would be tolerated in this regard, he maintained. 

He also sought cooperation of citizens for effective policing measures in the city.
