Dwyane Wade Says The ‘Pose’ Cast Helped Him A Lot After Transgender Daughter Zaya Came Out – Here’s What He Learned From Them!
As fans know, Dwyane Wade shared the news not too long ago that his 12 year old child Zion is a transgender girl and now goes by the name of Zaya. Naturally, the loving father is very supportive and wants to make sure to he has all the information he needs, which is why he’s apparently gotten some precious help from the cast of ‘Pose.’
According to Wade, they were a great help when it came to the topics of supporting his ‘young lady’s identity.
There’s no doubt that ever since the former NBA star shared the news with the world, he has been getting quite a lot of positive messages and help so he is very grateful to those people.
Furthermore, while on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen yesterday, Dwyane shared that his wife, actress Gabrielle Union reached out to the cast members of FX’s Pose soon after Zaya came out to her parents.
It makes sense! After all, the actors featured in the show that is all about the ballroom scene in the late 80s and 90s features mainly Latino and African-American members of the LGBTQ community.
On WWHL, one fan who called in wondered: ‘What’s the biggest lesson you have learned about what it really means to be transgender from the cast of Pose?’
In response, the father said: ‘The lesson that my wife and I learned is we got information. We did not have a lot of information and we reached out about pronouns. We really wanted to make sure we did not get anything wrong. So we reached out so that we said the right things to our daughter.’
He went on to share that ‘She’s identified as a young lady and we wanted to make sure that we got the pronouns right. We just wanted to make sure we get all of the language right. We reached out to make sure that we had all of the information we needed because we’re learning in this whole process as well.’
This got the studio audience clapping, obviously loving how supportive he’s been of little Zaya.
