Halsey In Hot Water After Accidentally Insensitive Tweet About The World Trade Center Collapsing – She Apologizes!
The singer got some serious backlash after she tweeted something generally considered insensitive in response to a bad album review. After realizing what she had accidentally said, Halsey proceeded to apologize, however. Here is what she had to say!
As you may have heard, the songstress is in hot water for wishing for the World Trade Center to collapse in response to a publication, Pitchfork, giving her new album, Manic, a bad review.
The publication wrote: ‘Too much of this album sounds like the amorphous pop that you might associate with a miserable Lyft ride. This record’s painfully stretched ballads and overly sanitized rhythms make it feel tedious.’ Yikes!
Obviously, Halsey was not too happy at all about the harsh review so she proceeded to clap back in tweet that reads: ‘can the basement that they run p*tchfork out of just collapse already.’
She obviously said this without knowing that their office is currently located in the One World Trade Center, aka One WTC or Freedom Tower!
The said building was in fact built to commemorate the former skyscrapers with the same name, also known as the Twin Towers after the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.
When one social media user pointed this out, Halsey realized her mistake and quickly deleted her accidentally insensitive tweet.
After removing it, she then apologized, writing: ‘ABSOLUTELY deleted it upon realizing this. Was just trying to make a joke! Intended zero harm. Just figured I could poke at them back with the same aloof passive aggression they poke at artists with! Clearly a misunderstanding.’
Thankfully for her, most fans understood the situation and quickly came to her defense.
