Khayaban-e-Soharwardi opens from Monday

Islamabad : Khayaban-e-Soharwardi which was closed due to security reasons years back, will be opened for routine traffic from March 18.

The road is being opened for general public from Monday after completion of its rehabilitation and up-gradation which was started around two months ago. Opening of the Khayaban-e-Soharwardi will ease the traffic flow on Kashmir Highway and adjacent roads particularly at traffic signal of 7th Avenue and Kashmir Highway.

Commuters had to face difficulties due to closure of this avenue during peak hours. Opening of this road will help smooth flow of traffic emerging from Zero Point, leading toward Aabpara and 7th Avenue and traffic emerging from Aabpara leading toward Zero Point.

It is pertinent to mention here that before opening of the road, Capital Development Authority (CDA), had decided to revamp the road to ensure un-interrupted traffic flow. The civic body had started rehabilitation of this avenue which has been completed while finishing work and cleanliness/sweeping of the road will be completed during the next two days before its opening for general public. Re-carpeting of the road has been carried out, while fixing of cat eyes and lane marking will be carried out during the two holidays and drainage system along the road has also been upgraded.
