Powerful women glow differently: Yasir Hussain

  • April 10, 2021

After calling spade a spade in a recent BBC interview and speaking up for Naila Jaffery, actor Yasir Hussain, who never shies away from expressing his love for his wife Iqra Aziz either, has now shared an appreciation post for his mother-in-law and her.

Taking to his Instagram, Hussain shared a photo of both the women on the front seat of a car, and wrote, “My beautiful wife Iqra with her proud mother Asiya Aziz (Pakistan’s first female Careem driver) sitting in her daughter’s new car.” He added, “Powerful aurton ke chehre pe alag hi glow hota hai (Powerful women glow differently).

The Jhooti actor added, “Apni maon, behnon, betiyon aur biwion ko rokne wale insecure hote hain, mard nahi (Men who prevent their mothers, sisters, daughters and wives from excelling are insecure and cannot be called men).”

Responding to his post, Aziz said, “And this is why I fall for you all over again.”

Actor Sonya Hussain also commented saying, “This is such a beautiful picture, MashAllah! Also, I am extremely proud to have a friend like you, Yasir Hussain. Much love and respect.” Actor Ushna Shah chimed in saying, “Yeh cheez! (On point!)”

In a 2018 interview with HSY, Aziz had opened up about her mother being a Careem captain and how she raised her and her sister alone. “I was brought up by a single mother. It wasn’t easy for her to make it but she worked really hard and got me where I am today,” the starlet told the ace designer and host. “She was also Pakistan’s first Careem captain!” she announced proudly.

“Me, my sister and everyone else really supported her. To be a woman and a Careem captain might seem weird to some people, provided that she’s actress Iqra Aziz’s mother, but to go in and show men that women are equally as capable is an impressive feat; one to be proud of.”

Earlier, after Jaffery’s video went viral, Hussain also called out the monopoly of the TV industry, which keeps all royalties of reruns to itself. “TV channels earn 20 times more than the actors by re-running successful drama serials while the actors starring in these shows are only paid once. When did TV become such a huge mafia?” he questioned.
