SRK is a pioneer in Indian entertainment: Ranveer Singh on King Khan’s legacy

There’s an addition of Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh’s name to the long list of Shah Rukh Khan fans! Known for his eclectic fashion sense and versatile acting prowess, Singh hailed King Khan as the pioneer in the entertainment industry. Khan has been missing in action from the big screens since his 2018 film Zero, and is all set to make a comeback with the action thriller Pathaan, which also stars Singh’s wife and actor Deepika Padukone in a lead role.

In a conversation with Film Companion about his wife’s upcoming film, Singh shared that he can’t wait to see Khan back on the screen.

The Padmavaat star shared that filmmaker Karan Johar once told him how he sees multiple people inside him. The interviewer then told Singh how similar things have been said about Khan in the past as well. Reacting to the comparison, Singh went on a praise chain for the Raees actor. “He is true greatness, that man. Shah Rukh Khan is an absolute pioneer in Indian entertainment, no doubt about it. He is king for a reason. I was joking the other day, in his presence. I was telling a third person that he won’t say himself, but inhone jo mall banaya hai usme ham apni choti dukaan chala rhe hain (he has built this mall where we are running our small shops). And that’s the truth you know, he is a pioneer, he has made Indian entertainment what it is, such is his contribution. He made award shows, live shows, advertising, and film promotions. He is the benchmark, the norm, he defines it.”

After the heartfelt praise, a fan from the audience interrupted Singh and called Khan a gangster. “He is the original gangster. He is an absolute gangster, the best. I really really really love him, and I have a great amount of respect for him, and I can’t wait to see him back on screen,” shouted Singh back at the fans.

Pathaan will release in the theatres on January 25, 2023. The action thriller by Siddharth Anand also stars John Abraham. Meanwhile, Ranveer will be next seen in Jayeshbhai Jordaar, slated to release this week on May 13.
