Watch: Shahid Afridi’s daughter tries to recite Allah’s names

  • May 09, 2021

Atif Aslam’s Asma-ul-Husna was one of the best things to have been released in the spirit of Ramazan last year. Coke Studio’s take on 99 names of the Almighty by the singer was lauded by many, who praised Aslam for his beautiful rendition of the same.

Seems like cricketer Shahid Afridi was one of them.

Taking to social media, the all-rounder shared a video of his youngest daughter Arwa, who could be seen trying to recite Asma-ul-Husna as Afridi tries to help her as a doting father.

“The best thing a parent can do for their child is to spend time with them,  nurture them and watch them grow, regardless of their gender,” the cricketer shared, adding, “Feeling blessed to be spending time with mine through life’s journey, and cherish small moments, just like this, Alhamdulillah.”

Soon after Afridi’s post, the Tajdar-e-Haram crooner thanked the former for sharing the video and penned, “Seeing children enthusiastically learn the names of Allah is perhaps the most rewarding experience for me.”

The three-and-a-half-minute track relaying the 99 attributes of Allah is produced by Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan alias Xulfi, while the video is directed by Asim Raza, stated a press release. Inscribed into the cultural memory of Pakistan, the Asma-Ul-Husna has many renditions, Coke Studio’s version, however, manifests a multi-layered soundscape.

The track also demonstrates a unique arrangement of duffs as their grand ensemble reverberates in a large space. The whole composition finally comes together seamlessly in the voice of Aslam, reciting the powerful verses.
