NA body summons PCB officials over fund-distribution
ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter Provincial Committee (IPC) on sports summoned Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials in next meeting after members demanded details in fund-distribution of the Board.
The committee members were of the opinion that every expenditure and earning of the federations should be made accountable. “We cannot tolerate misappropriation of funds in any department or sports organization. The PCB officials should be called and be asked to provide all details,” members observed.
The PCB earns millions of rupees in the name of cricket promotion in the country. “The PCB should be made accountable for each penny it earns in the name of cricket,” members said.
Later talking to media one of the senior members of the committee Iqbal M Ali said that cricket’s standard had gone down over the year. “Instead of going up, the standard of the game has gone down. Time has come when we starting probing cricket affairs.”
He said that head coach Misbahul Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younus should also be summoned for questioning. “They should brief as why nothing has been done to improve team’s standard. All coaching staff should be summoned.” He said that Chief Executive Waseem Khan should also be grilled as why Misbah was give duel responsibility. “Some of the players are there only due to their links.”
The House also summoned Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) officials for briefing on Olympic sports in next meeting.
