Shirley Caesar Defends Kim Burrell’s Homophobic Sermon: “You Should Have Said Something Four Years Ago!”

I wish Shirley Caesar enjoyed her impulse during a #UNameItChallenge, since amicable media will call we out only as fast as it hyped we up.

The priest and gospel thespian is now in a same vessel with Kim Burrell after clearly defending Burrell’s argumentative homophobic sermon.

Video of Caesar co-signing Burrell’s comments went viral on Wednesday (Jan. 4). While preaching/performing during First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Maryland, she suggested Burrell should have oral out most sooner, when President Barack Obama “made that things alright.”

“So, if we were going to contend something, we should’ve pronounced something 4 years ago when a President done that things alright!”

Burrell faced complicated recoil final week after condemning a “homosexual spirit” as “perverted” and suggested happy people would die in 2017 in a oration that went viral. Though Caesar didn’t discuss Burrell by name, it’s not tough to bond a dots here.

It should also be remarkable that that Obama did not make “that things alright” 4 years ago. The Supreme Court ratified same-sex matrimony in 2015.

A longer video of Caesar’s oration adds some-more context to her comments. She suggested preachers collect their congregations’ phones during a door, if they wish to keep certain sermons “in house.”

No, Ms. Caesar, spewing hatred debate in private doesn’t make it any reduction hatred speech. That’s not how this works.

Burrell’s comments did not go but consequence. She was axed from a scheduled performance with Pharrell Williams on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and her KTSU radio uncover in Houston was canceled.

Caesar might wish to step carefully, or her coins might be influenced as well. Though a legend in her possess right, Caesar became a amicable media disturb in Nov due to a renouned #UNameItChallenge.
