Haris keen to play for Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Haris Rauf whose exceptional bowling performance has kept Melbourne Stars at the top of Big Bash T20 League 2020 said playing for the country is his ultimate goal.

In an interview with a private channel he said he was looking forward to represent his country in future T20 internationals including the World Cup to be held in Australia in October 2020.

“My dream has always been to play for the country. All my efforts and performance is aimed at winning a berth on the Pakistan team for T20 and other international commitments,” he said.

Haris brilliant performance has surprised all. He has so far taken 14 wickets in just five matches with the best of 5-27. His last over on Friday against Melbourne Renegades restricted the team to a reachable total that was later achieved by Stars through fiery batting display of their captain GJ Maxwell.

“My confidence is on high as I have replaced DW Steyn in the Stars playing XI. The confidence given by my captain Maxwell helped me put up my best efforts,” he said.The pacer who hails from Islamabad and played majority of his early cricket with tennis ball was picked by Lahore Qalanders during their talent hunt programme.

“I hope that my performance in the Big Bash would go a long way in earning a place on the Pakistan team. I also desire that my team Stars go on to win the Big Bash this season.”Harris Rauf thanked Aaqib Javed for helping him improve his bowling. “I am really thankful to Aaqib for coaching and Lahore Qalandar for giving me the opportunity to play Pakistan Super League (PSL).”
