NEWS DESK: As reports of alleged terrorists enrolled in or having graduated from Karachi University surfaced, Wafaqul Madaris Pakistan grabbed the opportunity to demand an ‘operation in universities’.
The head of Wafaqul Madaris, Qari Hanif Jalandhari, demanded that raids be conducted in university hostels and names of ‘suspicious’ students be put in Fourth Schedule list.
“When terrorists emerged from madrassas, people used to say that madrassas are preaching extremism,” he said. “Now they are coming from universities. What would they say now?”
He gave recommendations for eradicating ‘terrorism from modern educational institutions’. “Terrorism and extremism have become a philosophy,” he said. “In order to defeat them, we will need concerted efforts.”
