Water supply cut off to Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal after pipeline bursts

The water board is blaming K-Electric

A water pipeline burst in Block 19 of Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Sunday, causing thousands of gallons of water to be wasted. To prevent further loss, the KWSB has shut off water supply to the area.

Water supply to the nearby Jamshed Town and other adjoining areas has also been cut off. The water board says it will take at least 36 hours to repair the pipeline.

It’s blaming the burst pipeline on K-Electric. The electricity provider had dug up the area to work on its underground wiring.

A K-Electric spokesperson said that they are working with the KWSB to ensure that the line is repaired as soon as possible. We are providing full cooperation to the water board, said the spokesperson.
