Renovation of National Stadium: Part of third teflon consignment arrives
KARACHI: The third consignment of teflon to be installed at the National Stadium has reached Karachi, but a part of it has yet to reach Pakistan from Singapore, ‘The News’ learnt on Saturday.
According to a source, the installation will begin on Sunday (today), while the remaining part of the third consignment is expected to reach Pakistan in the next few days.
The renovation of National Stadium, which will host five matches of the PSL next month, is in progress and teflon is being imported from Germany via Singapore to be placed on the stadium’s roof as part of the upgrade.
The source said that some delay was caused in the release of teflon by the Customs authorities, adding that Sindh chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah played an important role in the release of teflon.
The first of the five PSL matches in Karachi will be played on March 7. The management of the contractor has claimed that the stadium will be ready in time to host the matches. However, if the installation of teflon is not complete by then, it could become an unattractive sight for the spectators.
