Shiffrin leads after first slalom run

PARIS: Mikaela Shiffrin dominated the first run of the women’s World Cup slalom in Spindleruv Mlyn on Saturday, with only Wendy Holdener within a second of the American. Shiffrin, already assured of the slalom and overall titles, completed her run in 49.33sec. Swiss skier Holdener was 0.37sec back. Swede Frida Hansdotter was a distant third, 1.28sec off the lead, with Slovak Petra Vlohva another 0.5sec back.
