Fire erupts in a superstore in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar

The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained

The fire at Bin Hashim Supermarket in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar which erupted Tuesday morning has been put out. 

There are residential apartments above the supermarket in Block 13. The people from the apartments came out after the fire erupted.

The fire department sent two engines to douse the fire. The department said that fire erupted in the superstore’s basement and spread to the first floor.

The shop owners used to keep commodities such as wheat, sugar and pulses in the basement. All of those have been destroyed in the fire.

The pharmacy on the first floor has been damaged to a considerable degree too.

The police said that the cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained. “Only security guards were present at the store,” an officer told SAMAA TV.

The store remained closed on Monday and was expected to open at 11am on Tuesday.
