ISLAMABAD: Senate Secretariat station cabinet on Information, Technology and Telecommunication on Thursday voiced reservations over a resource adopted by a Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Pakistan Telecommunication Association per collection of taxes from mobile operators. The cabinet met underneath a chairmanship of Senator Shahi Syed. The FBR sensitive a cabinet that Rs43 billion was collected as self-denial taxation and Rs2.7 billion Federal Excise Duty (FED) in 2015-16.Tax collection by provinces underneath a conduct of GST is incompatible these numbers. The cabinet gave a proposals for rationalising a taxation structure as telecom is one of a heaviest taxed sectors in a country. The cabinet was sensitive that provinces are charging opposite rates for GST taxes on telecom sector.
