Armed forces air lift Sehwan blast victims

RAWALPINDI: The armed forces have placed all required resources to help the victims of Sehwan blast, ISPR chief Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, said in a statement.

More than 50 people including women and children were killed and over 250 sustained critical injuries in a suicide attack at the shrine of Sufi Saint Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan Sharife on Thursday.

Soon after the incident, Army Chief Gen Qamar Bajwa directed immediate assistance to move the injured to the hospitals including Hyderabad CMH where all the arrangement were in place. The personnel of army and Rangers were doing rescue effort at the blast site.

The COAS appealed to the nation to stay calm in this difficult hour. “Your security forces shall not allow hostile powers to succeed. We stand for our nation”.

 

Air effort being sent for quick evacuation of injured. Night flying cap heli of Navy and C-130 of Pakistan Air Force will do relief effort, the statement stated.

The PAF’s C-130 will lift injured from Nawab Shah Airport, while Pakistan Navy’s heli will lift injured from Sehwan and surroundings, he said.
