World Bank to provide Pakistan $188m to fight climate change

The World Bank will provide Pakistan $188 million to help the country fight climate change and protect the environment, the Radio Pakistan reported.

PM’s advisor Malik Amin Aslam and World Bank’s country director Illango Patchamuthu signed an agreement in Islamabad on Monday, according to the report.

Pakistan will use this amount to protect the country from disasters caused by climate change.

Aslam told the World Bank team that his government was taking all measures for environment protection through regeneration of forests.

The PM’s advisor said the government is bolstering plantations, setting up nurseries, forests and planting olive trees in Pakistan to protect the environment.

The World Bank country director said the initiatives will increase the country’s capability against climate change and further improve relations between the government and his bank.
