Tremors were felt in Peshawar and other areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) as well as some parts of Punjab on Saturday.
The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 5.5 on the Richter scale.
Besides Peshawar, Swat, Landi Kotal and other areas of K-P, the tremors were also felt in Punjab’s Chakwal and its adjoining areas.
Earthquake tremors felt in parts of Karachi
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre, Islamabad said the epicentre of the earthquake was located in Ashkasham, Afghanistan. The depth of the tremors was 28 kilometres.
On Friday, a 5.8 earthquake had struck northern Tajikistan near the border with Kyrgyzstan. The quake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres and registered strong shaking near the epicentre.
