PPP leaders celebrate birth anniversary of BB
Rawalpindi: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leaders celebrated 64th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Shaheed Benazir Bhutto here in a local hotel and held special prayers for the departed soul.
The function was arranged by Ex-deputy secretary public relations PPP Punjab Haji Mohammad Gulzar Awan and well attended by the senior and time tested ‘Jialas’ and workers of Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment. On the special instructions of chairman of PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, senior Punjab PPP leader Tariq Khursheed Malik participated in the ceremony on behalf of party chairman.
The speakers recalled sacrifices and struggle of Benazir Bhutto and said that she would be remembered in the democratic history of the country. They paid glowing tributes to their martyred leader and said that Shaheed PPP leader always raised voice against dictatorship and struggled for strengthening of democracy and embraced martyrdom for the noble cause.
Senior and time tested leader of PPP Tariq Khursheed Malik said we had to adopt spirit of our shaheed leadership to strengthen and unite the party if we want to pull the country out of present crises and problems. He also delivered the message of Chairman of the party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and quoted him as saying “Youth is our real strength and we feel honour to take guidance from our seniors, we shall give full respect to each and every worker as did our shaheed leadership”.
Ex-deputy secretary public relations PPP Punjab Haji Mohammad Gulzar Awan said all workers shall pledge to pick the thread of BB’s struggle for democratic and an egalitarian Pakistan she left. He criticized the local leadership saying as “Local leadership of Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment did nothing for the party cause rather they strengthen their own groups and served their own interests, neglected the party workers and forced them to sit idle at their homes and harm the party at large scale”. He said we made a hectic struggle during last two and a half year to re-unite the workers and brought them back at work from their homes. “We give honour to the seniors and time tested workers who are now active but infuriate and upset over the announcement of new bodies of PPP Rawalpindi Chaklala Cantonment which formed without consulting them,” he added. Haji Mohammad Gulzar Awan mentioned that our shaheed leadership would not take any decision sans the will and consultation of party workers. The present top leadership is also put faith on the same but some opportunists, who already harm the party by their cold and non-responsive behaviour to the workers, misled the decision makers. “Uncles leaving PPP and joining other parties have no any national agenda and PPP shall not be affected by their decisions as our real power is youth who proved that they are not turn coats.
C.R. Shamsi, Sajid Kaleem Kiani, Malik Mohammad Siddique and other senior leaders also spoke on the occasion and paid rich tributes to the brave leadership of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. The participants also cut the cake of 64thbirth anniversary of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed and prayed for the betterment of the country. Earlier an exhibition of Benazir Bhutto’s rare photographs was also displayed and inaugurated by Tariq Khurshid Malik and Hajid Mohammad Gulzar Awan.
