Govt, PTI urged to chalk out plan to save public from problems

Keeping in view the ‘hard times’ during the 126-day long protest sit-in by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at D-Chowk in 2014 the residents of the twin cities have demanded of the government and PTI to devise a policy that can ensure that no problems would be created for the common people on the occasion of October 30 protest rally in the capital city.

“Like other political parties, PTI has every right to register protest to raise its voice for specific issues. But it should keep it in mind that if any of its act causes hardships for the common people then it would create bad impression about it among the general public,” said Azam Khan, a resident of Aabpara area.

He said the government must negotiate with the PTI leadership to evolve a strategy for the October 30 rally to ensure that common people carry out their routine work without any kind of hurdle.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Traders Association of Islamabad claimed that PTI’s ‘dharna’ at D-Chowk had caused Rs10 billion losses as the shoppers generally avoided visiting markets and bazaars due to uncertain situation in the city.

Nida Kiyani, a housewife, said if PTI again stages a protest sit-in and the government deploys thousands of policemen on the roads then it can be said that the city would again witness a long spell of hardships especially for employees and students.

“I hope both the government and the PTI leadership will avoid blocking roads and let the people carry out their routine work. The school children should also not feel any pressure otherwise it would disturb their studies,” she said.
