New Zealand beat Pakistan by eight wickets in Women’s World Cup

With this defeat, Pakistan became the first side to be dumped out of the ICC Women s World Cup after five defeats in as many matches.

The display of poor performance was also observed in the match against New Zealand at Taunton.

Pakistan s batting line continued to wobble like the previous matches as the whole team managed to score 144 runs in the alloted overs against New Zealand in Taunton. 

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss in the must-win game of ICC Women’s World Cup 2017, and decided to bat first.

The match was played at The County Ground in Taunton, and started at 02:30 PM (PST).

It was rather an easy peasy job for the Kiwi side as they had to chase a small total against Pakistan in the World Cup encounter.

New Zealand despite of suffering an early blow in the shape of Rachel Priest were still consistent in the run chase.

Sophie Devine was turning out to Taunton’s nightmare for Pakistan as she played one of the most aggressive knocks in ICC Women’s World Cup.

Sophie’s knock of 93 runs off 41 deliveries completely snatched the match from Pakistan’s hand as it seemed to be one-sided match at the end of the day.

The fabulous knock by Sophie included nine towering sixes and seven boundaries however she wasn’t been able to complete her ton in an impressive chase.

New Zealand chase the required target by two wickets in 15 overs.

After opting to bat first at Taunton, Pakistan team continued with their poor show as was witnesses in the previous matches. The batting line had no answer to the outstanding bowling performance of the Kiwi bowlers as the the wickets fell in quick succession and henceforth creating frustations for the skipper and coach.

The opening stand of 35 runs was put to an end with the depart of Ayesha Zafar who fell after scoring 17 runs of the bowling of Kasperek. Marina Iqbal was the next to go who was cleaned by Amelia before she open her account.

Pakistan suffered another loss in the shape of Javeria Khan who got out when the score was 50. Nain Abidi and Nahida Khan too failed to make an impression as they fell in quick succession after Javeria’s loss.

And like the previous matches, the poor show by the battling line continued as half of the team was back in the pavilion when the score was just 56 runs.

A sigh of relief came in the shape of skipper Sana Mirza and Iram Javed partnership that took the score to 84 however, the short stand was also not enough as Iram was cleaned up Tahuhu after scoring 14 runs.

At the end of a dismal batting show by Pakistan, the whole team managed to score 144 as they were all out in 46.5 overs.

Skipper Sana Mir was the second last to go after she scored fifty and stood out with the only mentioned performance of the day.
