One killed, 20 injured as blast targets police in Raiwind

LAHORE: A man was killed and at least 20 others injured in a blast targeting police in Raiwind area of Lahore, Samaa reported Wednesday.

According to DIG Operations Haider Ashraf, the blast occurred near a police check post. He said police was target of the explosion.

Probably a motorcycle was used by terrorists to target police, he said.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to hospitals.

Raiwind serves as the headquarters of Tablighi Jamaat and hosts the annual Raiwind Markaz Ijtema.

Police were deployed in the area to provide security to a congregation of the religious group.

DIG said dozens of vehicle were also damaged in the blast.
