National cricket team captain Sarfraz Ahmed has requested prime minister-elect Imran Khan not to put an end to departmental cricket in the country.
Departmental cricket involves teams from national institutions and private organisations like the SSGC, National Bank, UBL, Pakistan Customs and Zarai Taraqiati Bank. “Departmental cricket has played an important role in Pakistan,” he said while speaking to media in Lahore. “I played regional cricket then went on to play departmental cricket.”
He said that there are many issues in the national team which are to be addressed. “Our team comprises of youngsters and there is room for improvement,” he said.
“If we still compare our current team to India you can see that they have experience,” he said.
Ahmed added that Imran has invited Pakistan 1992 World Cup winning squad to his oath-taking ceremony today (Friday).
