Shehbaz Sharif made opposition leader in parliament

  • August 20, 2018

PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif was made the opposition leader in the National Assembly on Monday.

NA Speaker Asad Qaiser approved Sharif’s appointment and a notification was issued in this regard. Sharif was unanimously nominated as the opposition leader by all the opposition parties.

On August 17, PTI chairman Imran Khan was elected prime minister with 176 votes, while his opponent Shehbaz Sharif could only secure 96 votes.

The PPP had abstained from taking part in the voting as they had reservations over the nomination of Shehbaz Sharif as PML-N’s candidate for premiership.
