2 persons shot dead in Malpur

ISLAMABAD – A day after a business partner of a legislator of ruling party was gunned down, two more people were shot dead by unknown gunmen in a brazen armed attack on a moving car at Malpur Road, informed police sources.

The deadly armed attack occurred within the limits of Police Station Banigala, they said. The bodies were moved to Polyclinic for autopsy, where they have been identified as Rashid and his driver-cum-gunman Arshad. Sources disclosed that Rashid was an associate of Mirza Navid who had been murdered in an armed attack in I-9 on Friday last, and Punjab Food Minister and Chief Executive Officer of Park View Housing Society.

According to sources, Rashid was travelling in a car along with his driver Ansar when unknown assailants having sophisticated weapons sprayed bullets on their vehicle, killing the duo on the spot. 

The killers managed to escape from the scene. Locals alerted the police, they said.

Sources added SSP Operations Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer and SP City Zone Rana Abdul Wahab along with investigators of Homicide Investigation Unit and forensic experts rushed to the scene and collected evidence as part of their investigation. 

SSP Operations Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer said unidentified gunmen shot dead two men in a vehicle and managed to escape from the scene. He said police are making efforts to arrest the killers. 

He said those killed in the armed attack were associated with Mirza Navid, killed in an armed attack in I-9 a day ago. 

It may be noted that a man was killed and four others were injured in a brazen armed attack in sector I-9/4 of the capital on Friday last.

It was a coordinated gun attack by unknown culprits targeting the two close aides/business partners of Punjab Minister for Food and Chief Executive Officer Park View Housing Society, Islamabad, according to police.

All the attackers managed to escape from the scene in a white car, police added.
