2 Polyclinic healthcare workers lose life in line of Covid-19 duty
ISLAMABAD – The Federal Government Services (FGS) Polyclinic hospital lost two healthcare workers and around 300 were infected in the line of duty during COVID-19 pandemic.
Spokesperson FGS hospital Dr. Abdul Jabbar Bhutto said this in a media talk held here. Briefing about the hospital’s steps taken to cope with the pandemic situation he said that earlier hospitals had vaccination centres inside the hospital, but now they have been established outside.
He said that so far 31,000 people have been vaccinated at the hospital and the number includes HCWs also. Dr. Jabbar said that three vaccination counters have been established for men while four are functioning for women and the hospital is administrating SinoPharm and SinoVac vaccines.
He added that the single dose vaccine supply in the hospital will also start soon.
The hospital spokesperson said that vaccination timing at the hospital is from 08:00 am to 10:00 pm and the centre is closed on Friday following the instructions of National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), however it is open on public holidays.
Dr. Jabbar also said that above 2,000 patients visited the hospital in the last 24 hours and currently the hospital has 15 COVID-19 patients admitted, while 34 suspects have also been tested.
Despite the low positivity ratio in the city, the FGS spokesperson stressed for implementation on the COVID-19 SOPs to control the spread.
Dr. Jabbar said that the evening Outpatient Department in the hospital has been closed temporarily and will be re-opened following the orders from the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS).
He said that 300 HCWs of the Polyclinic hospital were infected in the line of duty during COVID-19 pandemic and two of them lost their lives.
“Martyr packages will be claimed for the deceased HCWs,” he said.
He also said that the Polyclinic hospital staff is also deployed in F-9 mass vaccination centre and providing its services.
