56 dengue patients admitted in PIMS

ISLAMABAD – The dengue cases in capital on Tuesday observed a surge as 56 patients were admitted in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

According to PIMS spokesperson Dr. Mubashir Daha, the hospital currently has 56 patients and in the last 24 hours, 10 patients recovered and were discharged from PIMS. He said that so far, 2,200 dengue patients have been reported in PIMS and 300 patients remained under treatment due to dengue. The spokesperson said that dengue patients are being treated round the clock in two wards where 100 beds for dengue patients have been allocated in Medical Ward Emergency and ICU.

He also said all the requirements for the treatment of dengue patients in the blood bank, pharmacy and laboratory are being met immediately and all life-saving medicines are being provided free of cost to dengue patients.

“All staff of dengue ward headed by Dr. Shafaat Khatun are ready to deal with any emergency situation,” he said.

District Health Officer Dr. Zaeem Zia said that 95 new dengue cases have been diagnosed in last 24 hours in Islamabad.

About COVID-19, he said 39 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 against 3095 tests conducted with positivity of 1.26 per cent. He added we are monitoring and responding to both situations.
