Makeup artists from seven Karachi neighbourhoods put their skills to the test in a three-day competition named Meri Dulhan Lakhon Mein Aik.
The makeup artists came from Gulistan-e-Johar, Lyari, Garden, Malir, Orangi Town, North Nazimabad and Nagan Chowrangi. They came on Subh Saveray Samaa Kay Sath with Sanam Baloch to start off with mehndi looks on Wednesday.
They had 17 minutes divided into three segments to get a bride ready for a mehndi. Five minutes were given to set the foundation, another five minutes were given for the eyes makeup and seven minutes were given for the hairstyling. There was a panel of judges including celebrities and famous makeup artist named Nadia Hussain, Wajid Khan, Natasha Ali and Mrs Khan. Viewers could then call in to vote for their favourite team.

Gulistan-e-Jauhar
Makeup artist Aliya Maqbool has six years of experience. She has a salon at her own house in Block 18 by the name of Mariam Beauty Parlour.

Her challenge was to create a look for a bride in a mustard coloured outfit with gold embroidery. She went with gold eyeshadow on the lid and hot pink lipstick.
Lyari
Ainna Adil has been doing this for 14 years at her parlour in Moosa Lane.

Her bride had a difficult suit to work with. It was olive green with a tangerine border. She decided to mirror these shades in the makeup.
Garden
Erum Irfan owns Ayesha Beauty Parlour in Chandni Chowk lane.

She has been doing this for seven years. Her bride wore a yellow outfit so she went with light pink lips and emerald green eye shadow.
Malir
Sajda Saif has been doing this for six years. She became a makeup artists because of her passion to play with colours.

Her challenge was to create a look for a green and copper coloured outfit. She went with pink lipgloss and for the eyes, she completed the look with a combination of gold and copper eye shadow.
Orangi Town
Zarina Hanif, who owns Bride Beauty Parlour, has been doing this for five years.

She had to work with a bride wearing a gold and sky blue outfit. She completed the look with peach lipstick.
North Nazimabad
Seema Akhber has been running her own salon for 20 years and was the most experienced contestant.

Her bride wore a multi-coloured kurta with a yellow lengha. She went with pink lipstick and gold eye shadow.
Nagan Chowrangi
Huma Tariq has been doing makeup for brides at the Eden Rose Beauty Zone for 18 years.

Her bride wore an emerald green and yellow lehnga. She picked red lipstick and green eye shadow to compliment her clothes.
With a heavy heart Anna Adil of Anna Beauty Parlour, Lyari was eliminated by the judges, but the competition is not over yet. The Meri Dulhan Lakhon Mein Aik competition finale will be held on December 24.
