Afzaal Ahmed Kauser replaces Waqar Uddin Syed as DIG Operations Islamabad

ISLAMABAD-Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Waqar Uddin Syed was removed from his post on Wednesday apparently for his failure in controlling drastic surge in street crime in the capital, informed sources.

Waqar Uddin Syed has been replaced by Afzaal Ahmed Kauser as new DIG Operations Islamabad, who had earlier served on several key posts in Punjab Police including City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, they said. A notification No. 3(4)-Admin/2021-133 dated Islamabad 20 January 2021 issued by Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and signed by M.Khurram Shahzad (Deputy Director Admin-I), stated, “Waqar Uddin Syed, PSP, DIG Operations is hereby transferred with immediate effect and posted as DIG Security against a vacant post. While Afzaal Ahmed Kauser, PSP, who was awaiting posting, is appointed as DIG Operations Islamabad.”

A spokesman to Islamabad police told media that the newly appointed DIG Operations Islamabad Afzaal Ahmed Kauser has assumed his charge following the orders of Chief Commissioner, ICT.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Dr Syed Mustafa Tanvir has issued posting and transfer orders of as many as 264 constables, according to a police spokesman.
