Arrest warrants of accused issued in defamation case

ISLAMABAD-District and Sessions Judge (DSJ)/Special Judge Prevention of Electronics Crime Raja Jawad has issued arrest warrants of Atiq Azam Khan for not appearing before the court in case of posting defamatory and derogatory remarks against a US national woman of Pakistani origin. Atiq Azam Khan is the accomplice of a woman namely Maria Farooq allegedly involved in posting defamatory/vulgar comments on Facebook against an American national woman Ms Sabeen for not appearing before court despite summoning by the judge. Earlier, the US national woman Ms Sabeen had lodged a complaint with FIA Cycber Crime Cell Islamabad crime stating Maria Farooq had shared derogatory/defamatory posts on Facebook against her. She alleged Maria had involved in her character assassination on social media that hurt her family life a lot. Upon which, the FIA Cyber Crime Cell investigators held inquiry during which it was proved that Maria Farooq, daughter of a retired military officer, committed this crime on the instigation of Atiq Azam Khan. The accused also confessed her guilt before FIA investigators by submitting an affidavit. On conclusion of formal inquiry, a report along with complete evidences were submitted for trial of the accused.

Talking to The Nation, Fahad Advocate, the council for US national woman, confirmed that a court of law had issued arrest warrant of Atiq Azam Khan for not appearing before the court in a case of slinging mud on character of a woman on social media. He said DSJ/Special Judge Prevention of Electronics Crime Raja Jawad issued the arrest warrant of accused and later on postponed the hearing in case till June 3.
