Recounts are under way in nine constituencies after candidates have raised objections.
In Lahore’s NA-131, PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has challenged PTI chief Imran Khan’s victory and a recount is under way. Imran won by less than 1,000 votes.
In Multan, former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s sons have asked for a recount, reported SAMAA TV correspondent Usman Ali.
Ali Musa Gilani lost the election in NA-157 to PTI Vice-Chairperson Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s son Zain Qureshi. Abdul Qadir Gilani lost the election in NA-154 to PTI’s Ahmed Hussain.
In PP-212 Multan, Shahzad Bhutta of the PML-N lost to PTI candidate Muhammad Saleem Akhtar by over 5,000 votes and has also asked for a recount.
As the ballot papers are recounted at the judicial complex, political party workers have gathered outside to await the results, which will be announced in a while.
A recount is also under way in NA-126 Lahore, where PML-N candidate Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad Anwar of the PML-N lost to Muhammad Hammad Azhar of the PTI by less than 3,000 votes.
In four Faisalabad constituencies a recount is under way, reported SAMAA TV correspondent Rashid Siddiq.
In NA-106, the PTI’s Nisar Jutt has challenged PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah’s victory, while in NA-108, Abid Sher Ali has challenged the results where he lost to PTI’s Farrukh Habib by around 1,200 votes.
A recount is also under way in PP-108 and PP-115.
In all these areas, candidates lost by a very small margin and there were a lot of rejected votes.
