Banigala police bust 2 intra-provincial gangs

ISLAMABAD   –  Banigala police have busted two intra-provincial dacoits and robbers’ gangs by arresting nine active members during a special drive against outlaws, informed a police spokesman on Saturday.

The police investigators also seized gold ornaments, mobile phones, vehicle and other valuables from the possession of detained criminals, he said. Separate cases have also been registered against accused while further investigation was underway, the spokesman said.

According to him, a team of officials of Police Station (PS) Banigala, under the command of Superintendent of Police (SP) City (Zone) Umer Khan, arrested four dacoits having links with Saanp dacoit gang and recovered jewellery worth Rs 1.3 million, mobile phone, a car they used in crime and weapons from their possession. 

The detained dacoits were identified as Waseem alias Saanp (ring leader), Muhammad Ilyas, Adnan Ahmed and Abid Ali, against whom case was registered, he added.

He said the dacoits have confessed to be involved in a series of crimes in Islamabad and other parts of Punjab. “The dacoits have also been punished in several cases by the court of law,” he informed. He said SHO PS Banigala Tipu Sultan, ASP Haider Ali and other team arrested the Saanp gang.

Similarly, Banigala police also apprehended five robbers who had formed Naji Gang. 

Police recovered valuables and other house appliances from the possession of robbers and registered cases against them. 

The robbers have been identified as Nadir Ali, Muhammad Hassan Raza, Muhammad Asim, Ghulfam Haider and Muhammad Shohaib, he said adding that Naji Gang used to enter into houses by breaking grills of windows to loot the houses. Meanwhile, DIG Operations Islamabad Muhammad Afzal Kausar and SSP Operations Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer appreciated the efforts of SP Umer Khan, ASP Haider Ali, SHO PS Banigala Tipu Sultan and other team members for netting gangs of robbers and dacoits.
