Capital’s Covid-19 positivity rate jumps from 1pc to 8pc in 2 weeks: DC

ISLAMABAD – Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat has said that Islamabad’s Covid-19 positivity rate has jumped from 1 percent to 8 percent in just two weeks.

He said around 40 percent of patients of Covid-19 in the city are suffering from the delta variant. In a tweet on Sunday, he said, “In just 2 weeks the covid positivity in Islamabad has jumped from 1% to 8%. Around 40% cases are suffering from the delta variant.” 

He further said that admission in hospitals has increased from 100 to 159 which is not as high because of the high vaccination rate in Islamabad. “Almost 8 lac 50,000 [have been] vaccinated,” he added.

Meanwhile, Pakistan reported 2,607 new Coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s Covid-19 tally to 989,275. 

The country’s death toll climbed to 22,781 after 21 more people succumbed to the deadly disease. Meanwhile, 834 patients recovered from the deadly disease in a day, taking total recoveries to 919,163. 

According to the NCOC, total active Covid-19 cases across the country were reported to be 47,331.
