Finance Minister Asad Umar has announced that during its first cabinet meeting on Monday, the government decided to form a task force with the mandate to bring ‘laundered’ money back to Pakistan.
“The task force has been given a period of two weeks to chalk out a plan to bring ‘looted’ money back,” the finance minister told SAMAA TV.
On August 19, Prime Minister Imran Khan in his first address to the nation had announced that his government will make a high-power task force to bring ‘laundered money’ back to Pakistan.
“Our debt has reached at Rs28, 000 billion today,” he said. “We have to take loans to pay off the interests on our foreign debt.”
“We have to stand on our own feet,” he added. “Taking loans means losing your freedom and respect. ”
