ISLAMABAD: China has denied that Jiangsu Yabaite Technology Co. Ltd, a Chinese firm allegedly involved in a corruption scam involving Multan metro bus project, was operating in Pakistan.
Lijian Zhao, Deputy Head of Mission at Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, issued the clarification in response to a tweet.
“Thx for advice. This Chinese company Yabeite was not working in Pakistan. It made up some fake letters to cheat government and was punished,” he tweeted.

In a second tweet, the Chinese diplomat said CPEC projects are transparent and clean and there is zero tolerance for corruption.
Jiangsu Yabaite Technology Co. Ltd is being probed by Chinese authorities after unusual transactions of money were detected in the company’s accounts.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Chinese diplomat for clearing the situation. – SAMAA
