  • October 21, 2021

Islamabad-Additional and District Sessions Judge (West) Muhammad Atta Rabbani on Wednesday recorded the statement of a witness in Noor Mukadam murder case.

The witness was identified as Muhammad Raza, serving as sub-inspector in Islamabad Police and posted in police station Kohsar. The defense lawyers also cross-examined the prosecution witness.

Judge Muhammad Atta Rabbani snubbed the prime accused Zahir Zakir Jaffar in the courtroom, when he tried to interrupt the hearing of case, and ordered the police to give him a shut up call.

When ADSJ (West) Muhammad Atta Rabbani took up the case, the prosecution produced the witness SI Muhamamd Raza in witness box. Besides, the five accused including Zahir Zakir Jaffar and his father Zakir Jaffar (brought from Adiala Jail), six accused employees of Therapy Works were also present in the courtroom.

The defense lawyers questioned the witness why you had appeared before court as witness when you were not posted as Moharrar or Duty Officer in the police station. On which the witness replied that he was serving as senior SI in police station Kohsar. The lawyer asked him had he written any initial report regarding Noor murder case in police record on basis of which he (SI) has been given authority as incharge officer.

The defense said the high ups of Islamabad police had issued strict orders for computerised reports on which the SI added the cops first write application by hand and then feed in the computer.

On this occasion, the defense lawyers raised objection over presence of Shaukat Ali Mukadam, witness and complainant, in the courtroom during cross examination of witnesses.

The judge ordered the complainant to leave the court.

The witness SI Muhammad Raza, during cross examination, told that he was on duty from 4pm to 2am in the police station on July 20, the day Noor was murdered.

The judge also summoned Zahir Zakir Jaffar, the prime suspect in Noor Murder Case, in the courtroom on plea of his lawyer. Sheryar Nawaz Khan was appointed as counsel for the prime suspect.

The court meanwhile postponed hearing in the case till October 27 while summoning Amir Shehzad (the map-architect of police), computer operators Mudassir and Aqsa Rani.

On the other hand, Asmat Adam Jee, the mother of killer of Noor Mukaddam, sought permission from court to allow her to live in the house in F-7/4 where Noor was beheaded.

“Who refrained you from living in your house,” the judge raised question when Asad Jamal, the lawyer of Asmat Adam Jee, tried to seek attention of court to present his argument in this regard.

The lawyer told court that the house is owned by his client and she is afraid that the police might hurl any other allegation against her in future. However, the judge did not respond to objections raised by Asad Jamal Advocate.
