  • July 28, 2021

Islamabad – A judicial magistrate of Islamabad on Tuesday sent the four co-accused of Zahir Jaffar, alleged killer of Noor Mukaddam, to Adiala Jail on judicial remand for 14 days after the police concluded the investigation.

The police investigators produced the four co-accused: Zahir’s parents Zakir Jaffar and Asmat Adam Jee, cook Jamil and guard Iftikhar before the Judicial Magistrate Shohaib Akhter amid tight security.

When the judge took up the case, the public prosecutor Sajid Cheema argued that the police investigators have completed the investigation from the four co-accused and pleaded with the court to send them to jail on judicial remand.

Judicial Magistrate Islamabad Shohaib Akhter, on the occasion, asked Shah Khawar Advocate, who was presenting Shaukat Ali Mukaddam in the Noor murder case, as if he has any objection in this regard on which he said he would have no objection if court sends them to jail on judicial remand.

The judge ordered sending the four co-accused to Adiala Jail on 14-day judicial remand. The court also ordered the police investigators to re-produce the accused before the court on August 10, 2021 for further proceedings in the murder case.

Surprisingly, Raja Rizwan Abbasi, the counsel for four co-accused, requested the judge to discharge his clients in the murder case. The judge remarked he had issued orders for sending the four co-accused to jail on judicial remand. Raja Rizwan Abbasi argued his plea should be made part of court order. The lawyer also argued he wanted to meet his clients which was allowed by the court.

Later, co-accused Zakir Jaffar and Asmat Adam Jee submitted an application for granting post arrest bails in the high-profile murder case. The court issued notices to police and applicant Shaukat Ali Mukaddam, the father of Noor Mukaddam, to produce a case record and to appear before court by July 30.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Muhammad Sohail will take up post-arrest bail applications of the co-accused of killer of Noor on July 30.

Earlier, when the police were escorting Zakir Jaffar, along with three other co-accused, a reporter asked if he (Zakir) knew his son was going to kill Noor Mukaddam? He expressed his anger over the question and entered the courtroom amid tight security.
