The Election Commission summoned PTI chief Imran Khan over the use of inappropriate language for rival candidates and parties.
He was issued notices for appearance before a four-member bench of the Election Commission on Thursday. The summons come a day after the anti-corruption watchdog, NAB, summoned the PTI chief for his excessive use of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s helicopters. The watchdog later allowed Khan’s request to appear before it on August 7. His lawyer, Babar Awan, petitioned the bureau to shift the meeting date as the PTI chief was ‘busy’.

According to the Election Commission, Khan can either appear before the election regulatory body in person or through a lawyer. The notices have been issued to him in light of media reports about the use of inappropriate language for rival parties and candidates.
The PTI chairperson recently called PML-N supporters ‘donkeys’ for going to the airport to attend former PM Nawaz Sharif’s homecoming rally. “Those who will go to welcome Nawaz Sharif on his arrival at Lahore airport are donkeys,” he said at an election rally. Earlier, he called MQM supporters ‘living corpses’ (zinda laashain).
