FDE gets back home economics colleges

Islamabad : The administrative control of the Federal Government College of Home Economics and Management Sciences F-7/2 has been given back to the Federal Directorate of Education, which oversees government schools and colleges in Islamabad.

The Ministry of Federal Education Professional Training has issued a notification for the purpose.

The college was established in 1989 to cater the need of girls of Federal capital and was affiliated with university of Punjab.

According to officials, since its inception in 1989, the college has been functioning in the building of Islamabad Model College for Girls(Postgraduate) F-7/2.

In 2011, its budget was separated from F-7/2 college and its administrative control was partly given to the Capital Administration Development Division. However, the matter regarding seniority of college teachers remained with the FDE.

The officials said many administrative matters like grant of leave to teachers were settled in ministry but the promotion matters were tackled by the FDE.

They said due to the administrative dichotomy, the college and its teachers had faced a lot of administrative problems like appointment and promotion of teachers and principal.

A college teacher said it’s a good decision of the ministry. “I expect the issues like appointment and promotion issues of our college will be resolved,” he said.
