A fire that broke out in the kitchen of a restaurant on Karachi’s Shaheed-e-Millat Road Saturday has been extingushed.
Acting chief fire officer Mazhar Rafiq confirmed to SAMAA Digital that the fire broke out in the kitchen located in the basement of the restaurant. It was extinguished using three fire tenders.
“Soon after we received reports of the fire, the fire and rescue team reached the spot and started to extinguish the fire. It took two hours to control,” Rafiq said.
He said the operation was slightly challenging because the kitchen was in the basement and there was only one entry point, limiting the firemen’s mobility. However, the situation was controlled and the entire operation has been completed successfully, he said.

They haven’t determined the cause of the fire yet.
The focal person for the water board’s hydrants cell, Shahbaz Bashir, said that 20,000 gallons of water was supplied at the fire site through water tankers. An emergency was declared at the NIPA and Safoora water hydrants during the fire.
