KARACHI: Four suspected terrorists, including a close relative of TTP chief Mullah Fazlullah, were killed in an alleged shootout with police in Karachi on Monday, officials said.
A police constable was also martyred and another was injured in the shooting incidents.
The shootout took place at Quetta Town and Kaneez Fatima Society.
Rao Anwar, a senior police officer, said that one of the killed suspects was identified as Khursheed, who was a cousin of Mullah Fazlullah. Khursheed was involved in several acts of terrorism including a gun attack on Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai.
The slain terrorists were members of TTP Swat chapter.
“Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid in Quetta Town. Terrorists hiding there fired from the rooftop when police reached the place,” he said.
A police official Ijaz was martyred from the terrorists’ fire.
Later, police raided Kaneez Fatima Society over information about the presence of Abdul Karim Sarosh Siddiqui, a senior commander of Ansarul Shariah.
Siddiqui managed to flee while his father was arrested for questioning.
Anwar claimed Siddiqui is the mastermind of the Eid-day assassination attempt on Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan. Siddiqui also studied Applied Physics at Karachi University. – SAMAA
