Islamabad-Residents of Ghauri Town on Friday demanded restoration of electricity and gas connection as non-availability of basic facilities were causing damage to daily routine of the residents there.
A peaceful rally led by coordinator Joint Action Committee Mehboob Al Hassan was organised by the Joint Action Committee Ghauri Town Islamabad to restore electricity and gas connections. The rally started at Fawara Chowk Phase 7 and ended at Service Road Highway. Speakers addressing the rally said that CDA has imposed illegal restrictions on electricity and gas connections in Ghauri Town for the last several years. They said that residents of Ghauri Town have not committed any illegal act.
Residents have house registries and in the case of registries, the finance department has collected taxes as per the rate fixed by the government. Protesting residents said that they have property rights and demand that the government does not punish the residents for CDA’s incompetence and restore electricity and gas connections immediately. Otherwise, residents will stage a sit-in on the expressway on March 28 and the protest will continue until electricity and gas connections are restored.
