Hussain and Hasan Nawaz might be placed on ECL when they return
The names of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s sons might be placed on the Exit Control List whenever they return.
The interior ministry submitted its reply in Lahore High Court over a case relating to putting the names of Sharif family on the no-fly list.
Hassan and Hussain Nawaz are currently in London. They are absconding in the NAB references—Avenfield, Al Azizia, and Flagship— against them.
The reply said that Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam and son-in-law Safdar have been placed on the ECL already. Moreover, a red warrant has been issued for former finance minister Ishaq Dar.
After Hasan and Hussain return, the ministry will review putting them on the ECL too, the reply said.

The petitioner has been asked to submit a reply on the response of the interior ministry.
The hearing has been adjourned for 10 days.
The Sharif family was placed on the ECL on August 21. Nawaz, Maryam, and Safdar were convicted on July 6 by an accountability court for failing to disclose details of properties in London.
The conviction was suspended by the Islamabad High Court and they are out on bail.
On October 10, they approached the interior ministry to take their names off the ECL. In three separate letters to the interior ministry, they said that their names should be removed as no institution ordered it.

The order of the federal government is unconstitutional and illegal, read their letters, adding that keeping their names on the ECL is against Articles 4, 15 and 25 of the Constitution.
Article 4 says people have the right to be dealt with according to the law, Article 15 ensures freedom of movement and Article 25 says everyone is equal in the eyes of the law.
